Coconut oil is one of Nature’s miracles, and one of the healthiest, and most versatile oils.

However, not all coconut all types we encounter on the market are the same and offer the same health benefits. Therefore, we are going to present you the properties and differences between the two main types of coconut oil, refined and virgin coconut oil.
Virgin coconut oil is unrefined, non-GMO, and certified organic, made from fresh coconuts. The meat from the coconut is scooped from the shell, and the meat is cold pressed.
This procedure leaves the oil apart from the flesh. It has preserved the coconut scent and flavor, and might heat up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
On the other hand, the refined variant has been steam refined, a process that excludes any chemicals, and has neutralized the flavor and scent. It is non-GMO and certified organic too.
It has been made from dry coconuts and may heat up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. It is better for cooking purposes, for baking stir-frying, and sautéing.
You can use both oil types interchangeably, based on your preferences. Both oils have an identical nutritional profile, and both contain 63% medium chain triglycerides and 50% of lauric acid.
